i did these two supersets tonight to start my workout and wowowowow my glutes literally felt swollen after doing just these 😂🙌🏼 so of course i needed to share this with you all 👯‍♀️ .
1️⃣superset: hip thrusts (explode up, hold for 3 seconds at the top, then slowlyyyy lower down)
2️⃣into: single leg banded glute bridges
3️⃣superset: split lunges (i did just the bar because my lower back injury has been flaring up 😩 but usually id add some weight)
4️⃣into: frog raises (squeeze at the top)

Push day: how i structure my upper push days (chest, shoulders, tris) 💪🏻

a laaaat of you ask how to structure your workouts and which exercises to choose. i thought i’d show some main movement patterns i include to give you some structure but show how you can work in different exercises, depending on your goals and preferences 👌🏻.

this is by no means the only way you can/should build your workouts but it gives you a general idea of how to implement some structure and address strength in different planes of motion.
-
🔻horizontal push – e.g. bench press, floor presses, push-ups
🔻vertical push – e.g. barbell overhead press, single arm db shoulder press, elevated pikes
🔻medial delt exercise – e.g. lateral raises
🔻rear delt exercise – e.g. bent-over rear delt raises, rear delt machine
🔻tricep assistance/accessory work – e.g. overhead tricep extensions, cable tricep pushdowns, etc

in general, you want to start with compound exercises (multi-joint exercises that use multiple muscle groups); i normally start this day with bench press. you also want to prioritize exercises that address your main goals (or lagging areas you’re trying to improve) by putting them early in your workout.

i don’t personally do front raises as your anterior delts tend to get a lot of action already from other shoulder exercises. although rear delt flyes aren’t a “push” exercise, i personally include them here as well.

but one day you won’t be as sore from my workouts.

you’ll think my workouts stopped working.

one day you’ll try something new someone else created. maybe your friend introduces you to it. then the next trainer will say “ya!! it was a great one!” then you leave me.

the sore cycle continues.

if you’re sore, it’s not because my workouts are any good.

sore means you did something different than what your body is accustomed to recovering from.
.
when the soreness begins to subside as you continue the workouts, it’s not because they stopped being effective.
.
it’s because your body has become effective at recovering from them. you want this to happen.

what are indications of a good workout?
.
not soreness
not sweating
not calorie burn
.
seeing your body change, becoming stronger, and feeling great.
.
if you’re a trainer, tell your client what sore means the first time they mention the word. if you continue the lie, they’ll eventually leave you too.
