Iceland day 5 (8/15) - - i have been chasing waterfalls and views with two cool girls for the past couple of days (@jcomp15 and @rorie_comp ). i took a high risk in asking if they wanted to join me in this adventure as i was looking for some solitude to start re-adjusting to not being on the at anymore. nevertheless, i have truly enjoyed their company and have made the trip more enjoyable. head over to @jcomp15 profile for full story.

From mbarara to kabale in southwestern uganda. it was incredibly green and very beautiful, often referred to as 'the switzerland of africa' with its forests and lakes, lush grass for the cattle and cultivated terraces reaching to the top of rolling hills. villages nestled in the valleys and homes perched on the hillsides. #thisisafrica #wildlandscapes #wildernesstravel #travelafrica #remotedestinations #africaoverland #offroadlife #overlandtravel #overlanders #landroverlife

One of the many nepali sadhus

for those who are curious, because i know i was, sadhus are hindu holy men who take vows of chastity and poverty, adopt ascetic practices, survive on charities, provide religious services to those in need, and are expected to severe ties with their family and home.

some sadhus spend their entire lives on pilgrimages, or even a single pilgrimage, others sit in the lotus position in a cave for a majority of their life. they are seen by hindus as representative of the gods, there is a story that generals have laid down their arms rather than wage war against a city protected by sadhus.
there are estimated to be 6 million alive today

One of the most memorable places to run 🏃‍♀️ where there could very well be a zebra, giraffe, monkey or wildebeest around the next corner 🐒🐮🐂

We got lucky with the weather today. it called for rain, but ended up clearing out for a couple nice views instead!

Thunderstorms! this crew is in lightning position - ponchos on for the rain, perched atop packs for insulation, tucked into a stand of shrubs of about the same height. they're in a low flat place, but not so low that a flash flood could sweep them away. the next step would be to spread away from one other. sometimes these things really dump rain too, i'm often glad for the poncho. .
i think my favorite part of these storms is the smell of suddenly saturated desert. earth, stone, sage, pine, juniper. it smells like life!

Day 4 of openogo lake loop in algonquin park. we started off with paddling across hogan lake, the shear beauty of the rolling hills, rock faces and rugged islands made me feel honored to be there. after hogan we completed a 3.7 km portage into big crow, breaking both rebecca and myself record for longest distance portaged. following the portage we paddled through the crow river to proulx lake where we completed our last portage of 1435m into openogo lake. @rebshart91 .
