Happy hornbill. the leuser ecosystem is a biodiversity hotspot with exotic birds like this rhinoceros hornbill. how can we allow it to be destroyed for palm oil expansion. join & share the movement!https://www.lovetheleuser.org @wildlifeasia @istandwithmypack . help us directly with a contribution to our forest & elephant patrols! link in bio :) . . . . . . #saveleuserecosystem #wildlifeasia #wildaid #racingextinction #beforetheflood #sumatra #ran #ldf #conservation #biodiversity #cutconflictpalmoil #actonclimate #climatechange #conservationphotography #environment #climatejustice #orangutan #elephant #extinction #lovetheleuser #nature #green #earth #sustainability #art #wildlife #plants #climatechange #animals#cutconflictpalmoil #wildaid #racingextinction #rainforestactionnetwork #lovetheleuser#cutconflictpalmoil #wildlifeasia #racingextinction #saveleuserecosystem

An incredible sighting of a pride of lions on a giraffe k**l in the @krugernationalpark. a massive pride of 20 animals had been on this giraffe k**l for 4 days, giving guest some awesome sightings. on my last day in the kruger park i came across the pride, many of them were sleeping in the grass, blending perfectly into the surroundings. the big male was feeding and 2 lionesses were heading back to shade to lie down. the male soon joined them. they would have been doing this for the 4 days, sleeping and eating. there was a small cub and a slightly older cub around the carcass. the small cub was in a playful mood jumping on the other one. he wasn't to keen for this and growled. when he stood up he look directly at me and did a little mock charge. trying to act all tough, but when i didn't move he went back to shade with the others. now there was just this one little cub, still in a playful mood. i had a feeling that he was going to go onto the giraffe so i positioned myself and waited. it didn't take long before i saw a little head pop up and then before i knew it he was on the carcass. the little guy stayed up there for ages laying on it, rubbing his face on it and getting into all different kinds of positions. (i'm sure it would have smelt beautifully after that.) he eventually had had enough and joined the rest of the pride. with lion numbers dropping due to poaching and habitat loss kruger lions at incredibly important, with such a large area it can support many lion prides. they are a big draw card to tourists that want to see them in the wild. it was awesome to see so many little cubs, which are the next generation of kruger lions. ---------------------------------------------------- if you are interested in helping lions then follow @lionrecovery to find out more. ---------------------------------------------------- #savageencounters #loveyourwildlife #wildlifephotography #stoppoaching #savethelion #itsworthsaving #bigcat #lion #conservation #forthewild #krugernationalpark #africa #baby #cub

Some rhino facts for you: 🦏every two and a half to five years, a female rhino will reproduce. 🦏female rhinos carry their young for a gestation period of 15 to 16 months. 🦏they usually only have one baby at a time, though they do sometimes have twins. 🦏baby rhinos are called calves. 🦏at birth, rhino calves are still quite big, at approximately 40 to 64 kg (88 to 140 lbs.). let's make sure these babies grow into adults. ☕️=🦏

More than two thirds of an elephant’s day may be spent feeding on grasses, but large amounts of tree bark, roots, leaves and small stems are also eaten. cultivated crops such as bananas, rice and sugarcane are favorite foods. elephants are always close to a source of fresh water because they need to drink at least once a day. #elephants #savetheelephants #majestic #nature #wildlife #mammal #animal #protection #respect #wildaid #wisdom #conversation #suuunphoto

Dr margaret driciru and rangers from the uganda wildlife authority clean a deep snare wound on a large african elephant bull. when we spotted this elephant he could barely lift his leg (a tough feat when you weigh 5 tons!) but after 30 minutes of treatment the bull was back to his feet. still with a limp but in recovery! the biggest threat facing large mammals across much of africa is wire and cable snaring. this is done by poachers mainly to hunt bushmeat which is either sold in markets or used to feed their families. snaring is a killer because it's indiscriminate. check out the fantastic work the ugandan wildlife authority is doing to save elephants and other wildlife. #pioneerswithpurpose #elephant #inthefield #wildlifephotojournalism #rescue #uganda #ugandan #elephantsalive #wildaid #thinkingaboutbo

Fun fact: yesterday was reptile awareness day!🦎🐍🐢 i used to be mortified of lizards. well, any reptile actually. i'm still not 100% comfortable with them but i've learned to appreciate their greatness. even if their greatness is scary and creepy.🐊🦎⠀ .⠀ like most fears, we learn them from the people around us when we're kids and i adopted this fear from my mom. until this very day, she cannot sit in a room knowing there is a lizard. it's pure comedy to see her in action😂🤣. ⠀ .⠀ now, i'm not at the point where i want iguanas on my shoulders but i am okay with there presence. i credit this to constantly trying (keyword trying) to be open to animals that i don’t like and literally telling myself "i am 20 times their size".🤦🏾‍♀️😂⠀ .⠀ also, traveling for months in southeast asia totally helped the cause. i couldn't embarrass myself by running out of a shower because a tiny lizard was above my head.🤦🏾‍♀️🦎😬⠀ ⠀ #lizards #reptiles #iguanasofinstagram #lizard #frogs #crocodile #snakes ⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ .⠀ #consciousandwild #sustainable #wildlife #ecofriendly #endangered #savetheplanet #worthmorealive #environment #wildlifephotography #eco #endangeredspecies #climatechange #sustainablefashion #wildaid #protect #savetheelephants #dswt #wildlife_seekers #biodiversity #wildlifelovers #wildlifephoto #recycle
