📸 foto de un fin de semana agotador entre interescolar, con mis atletas tres días seguidos (viernes, sábado y domingo) y el campeonato nacional de atletismo adulto, donde se compitió dentro del tiempo libre, resultando un retiro en 5000mts planos y pb (mejor marca) en 3000mts planos !!! la cual destacó por qué fue el día domingo en la tarde con cansancio acumulado, pero con una rabia por no haber terminado los 5000mts el día anterior, los cuales decidí terminar como fuese ! 💪🏻

The other night sweet girl had a lot of first experiences! she got to run on a full sized track (that's my girl😀💞🏃‍♀️), hula hooped (like her fire hula hooping auntie), and her first bounce house! she's not much of a smiler for cameras, but i think she had a great time and took well to all her firsts in one night!

A look at mo farah’s outstanding british record in london and the future for him in marathoning

sunday was the london marathon where kenya’s eliud kipchoge added to his incredible series of victories over the distance, but a big story that came out of the race was mo farah took his first real plunge into the marathon on the roads. with his track years officially behind him, farah is in full focus on the marathon in 2018. he announced his intent to compete london in october last fall, naming steve jones’ 2:07:13 british best as the targeted time. in his 2014 debut, farah struggled over the distance, taking a 2:08:21 finish in 8th in what many thought to be a subpar performance for the 10-time global gold medalist. he was much more successful this year, coming in 3rd with 2:06:21, lowering jones’ record by 52 seconds. having passed though halfway in an aggressive 1:01:03, half a minute up on the ridiculous split jones ran in 1985, farah meant all business. after a 1:27:31 split for 30k (2:03:05 pace), he slowed down but held on for a 2 minute pb under conditions that were recorded at 71°f (21°c) at the the finish line. if the pace group that was supposed to go though halfway in 61:45 had ever formed, i think farah would have taken it more conservative at the start and in turn would have met a time between 2:04:00 to 2:04:20. it’s a good start to the olympic and world champion’s career on the roads.

yesterday @hattieboydle was warming up for squats with this glute activation sequence and i told her that i must get this to my followers.
i don’t discuss low load glute activation that much but it’s purpose is to wake up the glutes prior to a heavy session, not to overly fatigue the glutes prior to the big lifts.
hattie was prescribed this 4-exercise sequence by physical therapist @andrew_lock_strength and since implementing it she has noticed less back discomfort and more glute recruitment during her heavy squatting sessions. the sequence is as follows (swipe left) -
1) side lying clam - note that this is performed differently than standard clams. there is a unique set up, less flexion at the knee, and a forward lean toward the ground. this is transverse/horizontal plane hip abduction. perform 2 sets of 25 reps per side.
2) single leg glute bridge - you want hip motion without excessive spinal hyperextension or anterior pelvic tilt here. this strengthens end-range hip extension strength. perform 2 sets of 25 reps per side.
3) bird dog - this involves hip and knee extension with simultaneous contralateral shoulder flexion and should display hip hyperextension with a relatively neutral spine. it teaches good transfer between the upper and lower body. perform 10 second isoholds for 10 reps per side.
4) supine band hip abduction - place a miniband below the knees and drive the knees outward. this is frontal plane hip abduction which focuses more on the upper gluteus maximus and glute medius. perform 2 sets of 25 reps.
