If you would ask me the things that can still be improved in this fitness industry, i would say... . losing a dogmatic attitude and holding on to arbitrary rules such as absolute strength numbers and specific exercises. . too frequently, you still hear things like "you need to squat for your legs" "you need to bench 225 lbs before doing intermediate programs" "you need to deadlift" . all of these statements are so generic and do not account for individual differences. optimal coaching = individualization. . with that said i want to tackle the myth that you need to squat with a barbell on your back to optimally train legs. my girlfriend shari has tried the barbell back squat numerous times but due to restriction in her hip motion (anatomic issue) and shoulder problems she fails to hit correct depth and the bar position aggravates her shoulder. . now, why would that be a problem? the reverse lunge with a safety bar solves both of these problems while still providing an excellent training stimulus for her quads and glutes. combined with front squats, hip thrusts and romanian deadlifts we have created a solid program that lets her train pain-free, but still challenges her to push the pace and make great progress. . conclusion: exercises are tools. tools are just things to get the job done. if someone asks you to break down a wall, they won't give a f**k whether you use a sledgehammer or a wrecking ball (except if they are concerned with the damage you make). but even in that case, the result is there right? don't limit yourself. free yourself of mental barriers and open up your mind to alternatives. focus on solutions rather than problems. #health #healthy #lifestyle #fit #fitfam #fitness #powerlifting #mindset #bodybuilding #workout #motivation  #strength #strong #power #success #gym #training #nutrition #diet #weights #entrepreneur #business #takenoshit #thedyingbreed #menwholift #alpha
