Love this #climateaction illustration by @livekindlyco 🌿 even though climate change is overwhelming and it can feel like our actions won’t make a difference, we can all make small changes to the way we live to lessen our impact on the planet 🌺 which one of these steps have you already taken? i mainly bike in berlin (don’t own a car) and love vintage shopping! i’m lucky to have a nearby local farmers market twice a week too 🥕🥬🍎#smallsustainablesteps

people may think ”do you really believe you can change the world by going to a demonstration about climate change?” my answer: ”do you really believe you can change the world by not going to a demonstration?” what i want to say is this: i belive that there is power-raising your voice and standing in for something that means something to you-what is stronger namely than the power of people? i think that in community there is strength-joint action is the magical word. yesterday thousands of people in more than 100 countries went on the streets to protest and not only raise awareness of the severance of our climate crisis but also to pressurize the people in power to take concrete action. as im quite lucky to live in a great democracy in switzerland i was able to sign a petition ”exclamation of the climate crisis”. we people have the power to take matters into our own hands and bring them to government in free democracies.
so yes, the more people join in the better. are you already taking part in the movement ?

Activism // the last six months have been pretty groundbreaking in terms of environmental activism. thanks to the incredible @gretathunberg, climate school strikes have taken off around the world in the form @fridaysforfutureglobal. seeing the youth of today passionately demanding climate action is inspiring to say the least. then there’s @extinctionrebellion, a social movement that’s uniting people around the world and engaging in non-violent protests demanding governments act on climate change. on the surface, it seems like society is waking up to the reality of impending climate disaster. but are protests really an effective form of activism?

i always promote activism as one of the most effective things you can do in terms of helping to change the fate of our planet. but i feel like there’s been little to no response from our governments on the actual demands of recent protesters. this got me thinking about whether protests actually make a difference, as right now i feel as if our governments don’t care at all what its citizens want. i decided to do a little research and find out exactly how effective protests are, according to the experts. it turns out they can be, but it depends on a number of factors. find out more in my new blog post: link in bio. would love to know your thoughts! 🌏 #climateactivism #beanactivist

“we don’t need a handful of people doing zero waste perfectly, we need millions of people doing it imperfectly.” -anne marie bonneau

the biggest threat to our planet is thinking that you can’t make a difference. on this earth day, what will you do to make the world a better place?

i know that this isn’t an edit that you expect from me, but i think that this is a subject that should be talked way more and people should be aware of. climate change is a very real thing that all of us have caused and that affects every creature in earth. according to the un we only have 11 years left to make massive and unprecedented changes to global energy infrastructure to limit global warming to moderate levels. every action that we make to stop it counts, don’t think that just one person won’t change the world, because we’re all just one person.
here you have a list of very easy things that you can do to help out!
—shower shorter amounts
—reduce (reducing is way more effective than recycling) try to reduce first, reuse second and recycle last
—buy reusable water bottles, totes, lunch boxes, shopping bags...
—stop using plastic straws, you don’t need them!
—eat less meat and dairy (one of the biggest factors in climate change is livestock agriculture, so try to buy less meat and dairy)
—if you are able to vote, vote!

spread the word!!!
i took the list from @halacarol and the edit is highly inspired by them
