How to grip the ground when you squat.
.
before performing a squat or any other leg exercise we must create a stable base from the foot through the hip muscles and up to the core muscles!
.
a stable base will balance the load on all the joints and bones.
.
the principle is to statically activate the foot muscles in order to maintain the arch, and at the same time to activate the hip rotators by rotating the hip outward, in order to stabilize the knee and the hip, and also to contact the core muscles.
.
how do you do this simply?
you can perform two actions that can activate all the relevant muscles:
☑️ press the big toe down onto the floor.
☑️ rotate the hip externally – drive your knee outward, and at the same time push the legs to the sides as if you want to separate them.

a short practice of these two actions will give you a very important motor pattern that from now on can serve as a basis for all leg exercises.

If you struggle to keep a neutral spine during your squats & you feel like you’re starting to lean more forward than you’d like, it might be due your knees buckling. this is due to excess stress being placed on the low back and furthermore not allowing the ‘push up’ -part to come from your quadriceps.
an effective way to practise your squat posture is doing it against a wall so you can control the sheering -making it harder depending how close to the wall you are. you don’t have to raise your arms but it will force you to use your core more by lifting your chest up. you can start off with a sumo squat and slowly work your way up to narrowing the position 🍑 #ml_chiropractic

Getting heavy stuff from shoulders to over head is one of those things that have fascinated me since forever. .

it’s just beautiful how all the muscles in your body work in sync to get that weight up. .

one of the more fascinating things is this, the jerk.
there are two kind of jerks, push j**k and split jerk

my technique is far from being where it should be, but it has gotten better by just keeping one cue in mind. .

‘rather than focusing on pushing the weight up, focus on getting under it as fast as possible.’ .
.
a j**k is ideally done when the weight cannot be push-pressed or strict pressed. .
.
all you need to do is use your entire body to push the weight up and then get under it.
.
.
olympic lifting is technical, probably one of the most technical things that you can do in the realm of fitness. .

if you want to get better, get a sound coach and practice. .
.
it’s all about how much work you’re putting under it.
