The spa day was awesome and much needed! apparently the pedicures included in the package were ~*ultimate*~ pedicures so we got paraffin wax dips 😍 will def be doing that again. our pedicurists (?) were super nice and wonderful. i had some mimosa and some chocolate covered strawberries, but otherwise i have stuck to my diet! i have eaten all my fuelings today, and for lunch we went to taziki’s after the spa. i had a salad with chicken. πŸ˜‹ i’m quite enjoying the variety of fuelings, although the red berry crunchy o’s had an odd aftertaste. but the cookies and brownies satisfy my sweet tooth wonderfully ❀️ anyways, that’s about all we’ve done today. i did work on compiling addresses for our guest list. it’s been an amazing relaxing day. back to the gym tomorrow! #spaday #optavia #optaviafuelings #optavia30 #leanandgreen #mimosas #massage #couplesmassage #weightloss #restday #relax #naps #pedicures #paraffinwax #couple #wecute #engagedcouple #marriedinmarch #chocolatestrawberries #tazikis #greekfood

This is something i really struggle with. people who know me, know sitting still is a challenge for me. however, over the years i have learned that rest and recovery is not "wasting time", but actually is making be better. but, it still takes more energy and focus for me not to train at this point than it does to train twice-a-day. i highly recommend the book "peak performance" if you need help. enjoy the recovery, then, get back to work!

Saturday morning has got me like 😴ordering a large coffee, which i never do... but i pushed myself hard this week!
4/4 resistance training sessions done.
10000 steps achieved every day (still have today and tomorrow of course though)
nutritional compliance right up there.

if you didn't go to the gym everyday that you planned this week, then you can make it up this weekend. if you missed two workouts, then do them on saturday and sunday. if you're thinking "omg but i have to workout on monday too. don't i need time to recover?" maybe not.

check out my story for a research study that looked at strength and body composition differences between people running the same workout program; one group trained on consecutive days and while the other trained on non-consecutive days (spreading workouts out). in the end, there were no significant differences in strength or muscle gain between the two groups.

training volume (sets x reps) and intensity (weight lifted) are the primary driver of results over time; as demonstrated by this study, the way you spread your training days doesn't matter as much. there are other considerations that need to be made (dm me if you want to nerd about the study πŸ€“), but i'd say that if you recreationally lift and need to make up some training days, then squeezing them in on the weekend will help keep making gains πŸ’ͺ
