here’s a great visual on how you should prioritize the different components of your f*t loss efforts 👍🏼

1️⃣calorie deficit: eating less calories than your body needs is the only way to lose f*t - keep in mind that you should try to eat a variety of foods to ensure you get the necessary macros and micros you need to function at a high level 😎
.
2️⃣eat enough protein: to maintain muscle mass, to recover from workouts, to keep you full and satiated when you’re dieting and so you get toned aka you don’t turn “skinny fat” 😋
.
3️⃣lift weights: 2-5x a week! (usually 3-4 is a sweet spot for most people) don’t be afraid to go heavy, it won’t make you bulky unless you eat too many calories 💪🏼
.
4️⃣sleep: 7-9 hours a night to recover, rest and keep your hunger levels in check. when you don’t sleep enough, your body will be hungrier. so get those zzzs! 😴
.
5️⃣cardio, movement, and 10k steps/day. finding active hobbies you enjoy will keep you consistent and make it a lot more fun 😊

☝🏼find what works for you, your lifestyle, habits, and preferences. focus on the big stuff and don’t let the little things distract you from the big picture 👊🏼

Body image is so mind controlling!! lately i haven’t seen any changes in myself and then i see other people’s post and i’m like why don’t i look like that!! what am i doing wrong why isn’t my body getting smaller!! then i looked for this before picture of my back and put it next to this one and i do see change! it may not be a big change but it’s definitely getting there! why are we so h*****n our own bodies 🤷🏻‍♀️

I ordered this shirt about 5 months ago. it said it was a 2x but when i got it it was actually really small. i swear maybe it's a large. it just ran really small. i couldn't even get it over my head. look at me today! now it's a little snug but dont judge and hate, the point is it fits. am i going to run to the gym in it today? no. i'm going to wait another month and see where i am. but still, i was really excited. you can swipe to see a comparison of the shirt that is a 4x in comparison to this shirt. i don't know if you can see it accurately so i'll put it in my instagram story so you can see. but huge #nonscalevictory!

ps....my arms just ugh. i know.

Even when you think you can’t, just keep going :: y’all this has been one of the tougher month’s for me. mainly it’s just been crazy (like xtra crazy) busy. so, of course, what do we all tend to do when life gets crazy? the temptation is to short change sticking to the habits we know produce the best results. it doesn’t have to make sense but it’s the truth!

i’ve definitely skipped more than a few workouts this month, and i have been slacking on getting my water in. i’ve even hit the snooze bar a few more times than i care to confess but even doing all of that, can you believe over the course of the past month i have still managed to drop 13 lbs!!! it’s because my #1 priority is on my nutrition and my mindset!
..
that’s been the case since the beginning. i don’t even remember taking that pic on the left, but it was on colorado one year ago today! that’s me about 120 lbs heavier and this just jeeps working! i’m now 176 lbs down!!! even with a crazy life because i just eat and live so my body stays fueled even during the crazy!!
..
i can’t even imagine if i had to stop and count, or portioning out things or worrying about whether something was on an approved list - i would have given up again for sure. but i just ate clean and healthy and was mindful and with a few principles in place i didn’t have to worry at all! it’s crazy and amazing! and i’m so blessed to have this mindset!

if you’ve ever doubted, don’t!!! natural, extreme, sustainable weight loss is entirely possible 💛 (insert happy dance here 😊)

Ok truth!! 😳 i’ve been really struggling the past two weeks. still am. it’s a mental thing :: i’m determined :: i’m committed :: i’m not going off the rails or changing, or stopping anything but for whatever reason that old nature of self-doubt rears it’s ugly head and those voices that say i can’t and should just quit not before i really embarrass myself can get loud!!!

the truth is i’ve made really excellent progress this past month. lb for lb i’m down 11 lbs (was down about 15 gained a few back, but that’s normal) i’m doing a new workout, i’m building more muscle burning more f*t ~ you can even see in this comparison where my stomach continues to shift! but still it wasn’t until i put this graphic together and saw it for myself, that i believed it.
..
so listen maybe you know where i’m coming from, maybe you don’t. that’s ok because it’s my crazy a*s journey and i have to deal with what shows up in my lane, but wherever you are!!! just don’t quit.
..
you’re going to get tired. you’re going to get irritated, frustrated, doubtful, discouraged, sad, mad, (insert another) but just keep going!!! find a partner!!! find a whole f*cking team of partners!!! i’ve found so many right here 💛... many of you!!! just keep going and keep growing!!

allow me to reintroduce myself.
my name is lalla may and this is my story, this is my song;
january 2018 there i was carrying what was not to be my heaviest weight because i only started this journey in march of 2018.
i only knew of the existence of the picture on the left in october 2018, if you scroll down you will see a side by side post i did back then (i have also included one of october '18 vs jan '19 in the 3rd frame)
look, losing weight is hard and this is the honest truth however being overweight is even harder. you become a prisoner in your own body. last january my physical and mental health were not okay, i was in a bad state emotionally and mentally and i turned to food for comfort. and i will say this i didn't realise the weight gain was in this level until march '18 so i spent two more months feeding my body junk and just not giving a damn. "so much can change in a year..." i see this quote alot when i go on my explore and it is so true , you just have to want to change and to be willing to put in the work.
what are you waiting for? afraid of what people will say? afraid you'll start and fail? well whether or not you start time will still pass and rather fail and pick yourself up than have the regret of never starting.
2019 we are all becoming the best versions of ourselves. no one is getting left behind.
the picture on the left is the reason why i never snooze my 4am alarm.

i’ve come a long way in 20 months. i know you see the outside and to go from 400 lbs to just hovering 220 lbs is a lot of change on the outside. but that’s not where i all starts and that’s certainly not where it all ends.
.
when i made the decision to switch to a clean eating lifestyle on april fool’s day 2017, i had no idea where i would begin ten days later on monday, april 10, 2017.
.
i had a general idea of what clean eating meant only because i’d read some articles about it and a friend had a clean eating blog i started to follow. but otherwise it was just a general idea.
.
see i’d tried what i thought was “everything” before. all of it was very do this/don’t to do that or eat this/don’t eat that in nature. it didn’t really take my body, my preferences, my tastes, my lifestyle and certainly not my mindset into account.
.
but i started with a single idea: change your foods and change your life. sounds so simple, really it’s a no brainer and it turns out i was right.
.
food can either heal us or harm us. so yes i’d say that’s a pretty important piece to figure out.
.
i didn’t just want to be a healthy weight, i wanted and want to be healthy human being and that’s what i’m working to become 💛
.
no starving, no elimination, no deprivation and 20 months later -184 lbs gone. everything (quite literally) has changed from the inside out.
.
transformation? yep! in every possible way: mind + body + soul

Perseverance is essential :: when (not if) you start to grow weary or discouraged, remind yourself: “i can do this!” you can do this!

believe me if i can start at 404.4 lbs just 18 months ago at 44 years old and lose nearly 180 lbs naturally anyone can do it too. it takes a little know how, a little patience, a lot of determination and a lot of perseverance but all things are possible!!!
