So proud of this long-time friend and tcs athlete. looks like we need to get a tcs racing jersey made... #repost @lodea ・・・ so this weekend i went up to arkansas to ride my bike for 30 miles in my first enduro race. it was the longest, hardest, muddiest ride i’ve ever done, but i finished it... in 1st place for amateur women 🏆 😯 🎉 still in shock. thank you @nickikolb and @revbikerepair for bringing me with you and pushing me along the way!! congrats @_tish.tosh_ on 2nd place— i see more rides in our future!! #southernenduro #lovit #yeticycles @southern_enduro_tour

With the first workout being announced this friday we need to make sure we are fueling appropriately during the next 5 weeks • • • this basically means more food! • • • with the opens being such a high stressor on the body with most of us doing the workout 1-2 times and some even a 3rd there needs to be more calories coming in to support the stress demands! • • • ⚠️the low down⚠️ • • • - crossfit is glycolytic, meaning we fuel off carbohydrates. • • • - we want our carbs for muscle glucose (potato, rice, oats..etc) and not liver glycogen (fruits,fructose) • • • - glycogen replenishes every 24-36 hours. meaning we are always fueling off the day before. • • • - eat a higher carb day (refeed day) the day before your opens workout attempt, if planning to hit it twice, plan 2 refeed days in. • • • - avoid to much fat/fiber to close to your workout • • • - get in a carb shake post workout to help start the recovery process we want to get in 2:1 or 1:1 carb to protein, best carb powder is cyclic dextrin • • • - avoid making to much change to your current diet / routine as to much at once may have a negative impact on your performance. • • • #focusednutritioncoaching #fnc

📚teaching tuesday📚 it's no secret that bulldogs love to sleep. i'd say on average, rock sleeps 16+ hours a day. what a life! . unlike these lazy bullies, most americans are sleep deprived. sleep deprivation is classified as less than 7-hours a night of "quality sleep." anyone less sleep deprived?🙋🏼 . lack of sleep affects everything from critical thinking to anxiety levels. it's also a factor in being able to successfully lose weight. when you go even a few days in a sleep deprived state, the hormones related to hunger and satiation are affected. ghrelin increases, thus increasing your feelings of hunger, and leptin decreased. leptin is associated with satiety and signals the brain when you've eaten enough. your frontal lobe is also affected. that region of the brain controls logical thought and decision-making. activity in the amygdala is amplified, which is the reward center of the brain. so indulgent, high-calorie foods and excessive portions are craved. on average, the sleep deprived consume an extra 300 calories a day. . poor sleep leads to poor recovery. deep sleep stimulates protein synthesis and hgh production. lack of sleep increases cortisol levels. the result? less lean muscle and more overall body fat. . what's even more interesting to me is the more current research out there that suggests quality of sleep and quality of r.e.m. sleep plays a bigger role in recovery, f*t loss, and overall health. . to promote more restful, quality sleep, science supports natural supplementation with gaba, valerian root, and melatonin. as we age, natural production of melatonin decreases. i incorporate either c-21 or night-t by @1stphorm. both naturally promote good, restful sleep like rock enjoys. reach out of you have questions about sleep and f*t loss. c-21 is linked up as well. . #insomnia #sleepdeprived #englishbulldog #transphormation #bulliesofinstagram
