Got into the rkf lab today with the force platform to do some force production comparisons. looked at the peak force between my back squat at 85% of 1rm vs jump squat at 65% during the concentric phase. i produced 376 lbs of force on my back squat and 368 lbs with my jump squat. a 20% difference in weight and only 8 lbs difference in force. what are the training implications? when prescribing training for power development it’s better to use lower percentage of 1rm and exercises where you can contract against the resistance as explosively as possible. this will create a high amount a force in a movement that will transfer more effectively into the field of play. when developing a training program for an athlete you want to do everything possible to increase the athlete’s athletic ability. when it comes to muscle development hypertrophy increases strength potential, strength increases power potential, and power increase athletic potential. it’s up to the athlete to reach that potential through training development and skill work. . . . #jumpsquats #backsquat #squats #legday #forceproduction #force #power #strength #eliteathlete #sportsscience #training #workout #explosive #powerful #powerdevelopment #exercise #exerciseprescription #1repmax #forceplate #powerlifting #trainhard #realkineticfitness #intensity #volume #fitness #elite #olympiclifting #powerlifting
