what do you mean by making progress?
.
making progress might be different for everyone. for me, it has changed from weighing less to getting stronger, to barely completing my weekly workouts, and make healthier choices.
i have gone from setting goals like being able to run 7-8 miles 2-3x a week last summer to just practicing yoga everyday (if possible) now.
.
tbh, it is disappointing to not see visible changes after a point, to not see more muscles, to not see any physical progress. and i have been there! i am still there some days. i feel like i am working hard, but my eating has been all over the place, especially on the weekends.
.
but this year, i am trying to be extra kind on myself for missing a monday, for taking 3 rest days a week, for just watching netflix when i don’t feel like working out, for enjoying treats with my husband when i meet him after two weeks.
.
do i not wanna see myself become stronger? do i not wanna see more muscles on myself? of course i do. but is it more important than my sleep? is it more important than my time with my husband? is it more important than my academics? no! not really!
.
so yes, achieving a physical goal like pull-ups or headstands are definitely a great way to push yourself, but listening to your body, respecting what it needs is what makes all the difference✨

when i feel i am not making enough physical progress, i try to take a step back and see how far i have made it. be proud of yourself. be proud of the challenges you have faced. be proud of your efforts and keep working on bettering yourself👊🏻

Happy transformation tuesday!!! a lot of you asked for me to post more transformation photos along with how i started and what i struggled with at the start of my journey so here we go! i started my journey at close to 300 pounds. the official recorded weight was 274.9 lbs and that was taken after i had started my journey. pretty sure i was realistically around 285-290lbs. instead of going 100% into diet and exercise i made more simple goals for myself. one week i cut out soda and the next week i cut out fast food. i never went 100% because i didn’t want to feel overwhelmed or pressured to lose 100+ lbs. i know a lot of people lose a ton of weight in one year but i’m not like that at all. i’m slow 😂. i started walking everyday for 20 minutes and i did that for 2 months. this helped me create healthier habits. some things i struggled with were eating and body image issues. i still struggle with both as most of you know. i have a ton of loose skin all over my body including my stomach which is the worst 😅. it hangs down low and causes rashes every single day. it sucks but i still wouldn’t swap it out for the 75 lbs i have lost. i definitely have plans to have my skin removed after i have kids one day 🤗. .

Today i went to a talk at @jldallas and one topic was self-compassion and that's what i want to talk about this #transformationtuesday. when i first started my journey three years ago, i thought my self-esteem was tied to my weight. and that if i lost weight, i would be happier. well, no surprisingly, that was not the case. as i progressed in my journey, what i've truly gained is self-compassion.

according to @centerformindfulselfcompassion: "in contrast to self-esteem, self-compassion is not based on self-evaluations. people feel compassion for themselves because all human beings deserve compassion and understanding, not because they possess some particular set of traits (pretty, smart, talented, and so on). this means that with self-compassion, you don’t have to feel better than others to feel good about yourself.  self-compassion also allows for greater self-clarity, because personal failings can be acknowledged with kindness and do not need to be hidden. moreover, self-compassion isn’t dependent on external circumstances, it’s always available – especially when you fall flat on your face!  research indicates that in comparison to self-esteem, self-compassion is associated with greater emotional resilience, more accurate self-concepts, more caring relationship behavior, as well as less narcissism and reactive anger."

“i be up in the gym just working on my fitness” 🎶 can’t believe a year has flown by. i’m the slimmest and healthiest i have ever been in my entire life. got my 2 mile run in for my cardio with bbg. didn’t want to come here on a saturday morning but pushed myself anyway. feeling like a d**n boss 💪 .

Actually ate breakfast at a normal time this morning like a functioning member of society rather than 2 pm & it actually gave me so much more energy? crazy!! it also gave me the power to go to the grocery store & not impulsively buy every item on the shelf out of hunger (rare occurrence), here are the details👇🏻
plain yogurt with vanilla @vitalproteins collagen peptides (mixed together to make sugar free, protein packed vanilla yogurt) + tons of fresh fruit (honeydew, pineapple, strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, & blackberries) + a huge glob of @artisanaorganics cashew butter + chia, ground flax, bee pollen, & @blackberry_hills_bakery almond granola

ik werd door @purition_nl uitgedaagd om mijn ontbijtjes op te leuken met hun proteine poeders: zonder toegevoegde suikers en sommige varianten zijn vegan! 👍🏻 helemaal top! 😊 ik maakte deze heerlijke smoothiebowl met de aardbeienshake 🍓 en snackballetjes met een vanille/macadamia twist! 😋 want een snack met extra proteine is ook altijd fijn!

30’ nas 24h do meu dia 💪🏼🏃🏻‍♀️🙏🏼 da série: faça o que puder, como puder, mas não deixe de fazer!!! 💖 a semana por aqui já começou a milhão.. não consegui treinar de manhã e depois do almoço já ia viajar... então: foi na hora do almoço mesmo 😅 5k pagos (dos 3k de hoje, mais os 2k de quarta, aí só fico devendo os 8k de amanhã e a muscula de hoje e quarta 😂🤣🤪 aí na quarta a gente já quita essa dívida aí 🤩)... parece complicado, mas sempre damos um jeitinho de consertar o furo na planilha (que o coach não me mate, # amém !?) tem um objetivo? então pra cima!!! 💪🏼 me virando, que não sou quadrada 😂🤣 uma excelente semana pra todos!!! beijinhos da mô 😘
