@world - BuzzFeed World | Seungri, a member of the K-pop boy band BIGBANG, announced on Monday that he was retiring from show business after he was interrogated by police on suspicion of supplying prostitutes to investors. The incidents were said to have taken place at the Burning Sun nightclub, in Seoul, South Korea, where the 28-year-old was a public relations director. Leaked texts from a group chat on Korean messaging app Kakaotalk appear to show Seungri coordinating with staff to arrange prostitutes for potential investors in 2015. Prostitution is illegal in South Korea, and Seungri could face up to a three year jail sentence. He has denied the allegations. Seungri was also allegedly part of a chat where sexually explicit videos of women filmed without their knowledge were shared. One of the members of that group chat has been named as K-pop star Jung Joon-young. On Tuesday, Jung admitted to secretly filming himself having sex with women and sharing the footage, and announced his retirement from the business. He will be questioned by police on Thursday. Also on Thursday, another K-pop star, Yong Junhyung, from the boy band HIGHLIGHT, withdrew from his band, writing on Instagram that he had received the illegally filmed footage from Jung and took part in “inappropriate conversations.” (📷: AP)
