One of @beautifuldestinations first ever clients was hong kong, one of the most vibrant and exciting urban environments in the world 🇭🇰 i love it 😁 so many friends live there, so many good memories have happened there and as so many good creators have been there i thought i’d share the work of @trystane who caught this insane shot (a composite of images) and is a crazy talented guy 🤙
When i was at school i played rugby for scotland, moved to new zealand to train with the best and was convinced being a professional athlete was going to be my future. it wasn’t. i had a couple of horrific injuries that ended my career but started me on the path of being an entrepreneur. first it was e-commerce, then healthcare and now travel: lots of unknown situations, stressful decisions and seemingly insurmountable risks but the one constant that i’ve always fallen back on is health. being healthy, eating a clean balanced diet and regularly being active are the keys to doing what i do in my life and certain partners help me do that. the biggest is @equinox . we’re working on some really exciting things together to create & share sleep, nutrition, exercise, stress and recovery insights, travel tips and workout programs as we look at ways to inspire people to be more active and achieve the goals in life they want. it all kicks off now, so a massive thank you to @hspevak, @lizmiersch and the whole @equinox family, proud to be a part of the team #partner #explorefurther
Still one of my favourite views in the world, from a country and culture that i love 🇯🇵😁 there are lots of good viewpoints to see mount fuji and this one at the top of the arakura sengen shrine is amongst the best. it’s a 400 step hike to get up to the red pagoda you see here but for memories like this from the amazing @rkrkrk it’s more than worth it. little tip- if you head there for sunrise you’ll meet many locals who walk/run up the hill for a bit of morning exercise ;)
Lofoten in norway is one of the richest marine habitats in the world. it is thriving due to a huge sustainable fishery and tourism. it is also rich in oil. and the oil companies want to drill for it. norwegians have won temporary protection from drilling here 6 times.... and we have a chance to help them permanently. on april 7th the norwegian government will decide if it supports permanent protection of this region from oil exploration. @paulnicklen @cristinamittermeier and their teams @folkeaksjonen & @sealegacy are raising awareness of this and giving us the opportunity to have an impact. go check their accounts and lend your voice to protecting an area that gives so much to the environmental & travel community. for all of us who love this place and have seen it on instagram... we have a chance to protect it 😊🇳🇴 🐋🤙 (huge thanks to @tomashavel for this amazing shot)
Arabian horses, sunrise and the pyramids... without doubt one of my most memorable travel experiences and a different angle of maybe my favourite photo 😁🇪🇬 big thanks to everyone that got in touch about berlin next week, looking forward to seeing some friends, a new city and catching up with the awesome @projectupendi who got this photo with me 🤙 yalla!
Leaving the cold & snow of nyc and heading to berlin, germany for the first time next week! i’ll be @itbberlin the worlds largest travel trade show and would love to connect if anyone is there 😁@beautifuldestinations has a big partnership announcement plus it will be my first time exploring the city, so if anyone is around to shoot or has tips on what to do i’d love to hear from you in the comments below! thanks guys 😎🇩🇪 (📷: @nikkosalgado )
What an amazing response to yesterdays @beautifuldestinations climate action committee post- so many people got in touch with ideas & recommendations for what we could do and what they were doing in their communities to help protect the environment 😊🌍🤙 we also want to inspire the creative community to step up and play their part- there are so many talented creators around the world who could have an impact if they told stories of conservation and inspired their audiences to travel sustainably. do you have environmental stories you’d like to create? we are looking for content ideas to fund that will further our mission of having a positive impact in the world through travel. someone whose work i love and have had the pleasure to meet is ishan @seefromthesky, he got this video and talks about protecting the environment in his home, the maldives 🇲🇻 please get in touch if you’re interested in making anything similar :)
We share our planet with millions of species of plants and animals - a beautiful variety of wildlife that enriches our lives in so many ways. each of them plays a role in a complex ecosystem, dependent on one another and better for the diversity they bring. wherever you travel in the world, wildlife is a huge part of that experience and protecting it through sustainable tourism is an opportunity for all of us. this week @beautifuldestinations hq we formed a climate action committee to explore ways to improve the sustainable actions of our business, our partners and our employees. we’re researching carbon offsetting programs, setting goals for how we can measure our impact on the environment and looking for organisations leading the way in sustainable tourism with a view to sharing their work on our social channels. if anyone has ideas or recommendations for partners i’d love to hear from you and will keep you updated on what we learn and the progress we make. amazing images like this one will only continue in the future if we take action now to protect the environment and whilst the task will not be easy, all of us can play a part and have an impact 😁👍 (📷: @olmospatricia ) #wwfambassador
Fourth bd bucket list of 2019, barcelona, one of the worlds greatest cities and an iconic mountain that sits just behind it, monte tibidabo, home to the beautiful sagrat cor church. over the years i’ve shared many images of barcelona but never one of this church so if you have the chance to visit the city make sure you make the short trip to see it :) 📷: @butnomatter.theroadislife
Continuing the theme of beautiful libraries around the world this unreal place was shot by our friend, the legend @jordhammond. it’s the tianjin binhai library, nicknamed the eye and is a cultural centrepiece of the rapidly growing new recreational district. jord and i first did a trip to china together a couple of years ago, exploring chengdu and the leshan giant buddha. the guy is a legend, crazy talented and someone you need to check out if you don’t follow him already!
Last sunset in cairo and what a trip it has been 😁🇪🇬 thank you so much to all the people that have reached out with messages of support and advice for our partnership with @raniaalmashat and the team @experienceegypt - the response has been overwhelming, thank you 🙏as many people have noted, you can’t come to egypt and only visit cairo, so when i next visit i’ll make sure to explore all the other amazing places people have suggested and give some advance warning so we can make time to meet with people in person. travel is a force for good and innovative partnerships with tourism boards that see the power of digital & social to drive visitors is something i feel so fortunate to be a part of. we cannot wait to start working in egypt! also, big thank you to the team @fscaironp for looking after us so well, their #beautifulhotel is what you can see on the banks of the nile behind me 😉 (📷: @matiasderada )
